Objective

• Understand the role and ethical responsibility of social and health care workers in affecting decision making connected to health effects of climate change to older people
• Describe international, national and regional level policy frameworks concerning health effects of climate change to older people
• Influence policy which addresses the health challenges of older people affected by climate change
• promote actively the older people’s participation and possibilities to influence policy

Content

Taking care of health and well-being requires taking into account social and environmental factors. Therefore, influencing policy-making becomes an important part of addressing the health impacts of climate change. As a social and health professional, you are in a confidential and respected position to make a difference.

The main contents of the course are
- the ethical responsibility of health and social care professionals to influence policy-making
- international and national frameworks for decision-making
- knowledge management/influencing
- supporting the participation of older people

This course is suitable for you if you are a social and health care professional or student and want to understand your role as a policy influencer on climate change issues.

Persons’ Health’. The course is at EQF level 6 (Bachelor’s degree level).
