Objective

At the end of this learning, students will be able to:

1. Identify the key drivers of climate change on a global level, and critically analyse the consequences
of this for climate globally and locally.
2. Differentiate between key direct and indirect effects of climate change on human health.
3. Define the likely climate change impacts on the older person in their local region and the
consequences for the health and social care service.
4. Understand the difference between climate mitigation, adaptation and resilience as concepts.
5. Discuss climate adaptation solutions for their own work context.

Content

According to the World Health Organization, climate change is one of the biggest threats to public health. In addition to heat waves, there are many other factors that put pressure on wellbeing - do you already know what they are?

The topics covered in this course include:
- An overview of the basics of climate change
- Direct and indirect health effects of climate change
- Older people as a vulnerable group

This course is suitable if you want a comprehensive understanding of the health and well-being impacts of climate change and are interested in older people as a target group. You will gain practical knowledge to address these challenges.
